Volunteering with the Law Centre

Picture of Graffitti in HackneyHackney Community Law Centre (HCLC) operates an active volunteering programme and recruits volunteers who are able to come into the office for one or two days a week on a regular basis for a minimum of 3 months.

With many demands on their time dealing with casework and representation, the Law Centre staff find the assistance of volunteers invaluable in helping to deal with the many challenging legal problems and cases.

HCLC volunteers help with file management and administration, cover reception, undertake research, draft client statements, provide interpreting skills and generally lighten the load for the solicitors and caseworkers while gaining useful insight into legal practice in the not-for-profit sector.

The contribution of volunteers at the Law Centre has been considerable, and in gaining valuable experience it is beneficial for career development and has helped many volunteers gain full time employment.

Unfortunately the HCLC is not currently in a financial position to offer expenses payments to volunteers. Please bear this in mind in relation to the cost of your journey to and from the Law Centre.

If you are interested in volunteering at HCLC and think you have the qualities we would need, please email your CV to bella@hclc.org.uk
