Hackney Community Law Centre in The Guardian - 8 June 2010
Juliane Heider, an immigration advisor at the Law Centre was qouted today in a major article in The Guardian - "Don't Delay Deportation Flight, Government Warns Judges" - on government moves to head off a last-minute judicial review calls that could hold up a Baghdad bound plane. Juliane argued that the requirement for injunctions made it more difficult to appeal against decisions. Support Hackney Migrant Centre
HMC is a free drop-in advice service, open to all migrants and refugees There is a delicious meal to share with the volunteers and an opportunity to seek advice and support, freely and for nothing, from both a specialist immigration and a welfare advisor. There is a chance to talk to a Health worker, who will guide our visitors through to NHS services and help with prescription charges. There are volunteers who will make supportive phone calls to relevant Governmental departments, chase lawyers, and follow up missing benefits etc. They will translate into a dozen different languages from Amharic to Portuguese.
HMC provides these services for free as most of our visitors are destitute and have no access to public funds. They are hidden people, fighting for the right to stay in U
K.
HMC desperately needs financial support to be able to continue providing our service to these vulnerable individuals.
Please consider a donation to help these people who cannot find help anywhere else.

The London Legal Walk - A Fundraiser
We are walking on the 17th May on the 2010 London Legal walk to raise desperately needed funds for Hackney Community Law Centre.
Our Law Centre helps the poorest and most disadvantaged people in Hackney and our social welfare law service helps to reduce poverty, homelessness and debt - which, in a time of recession, is ever more crucial. In everything we do we strive to tackle exclusion, challenge discrimination and combat exploitation.
Our Law Centre is dangerously short of funds to maintain those services and we need your help. Please support our walkers as generously as you are able.
